View two new charts (mind maps) on the “Charts and Graphics” page, one of major Tunisian left-wing parties (not all) and the other of Algerian political parties (PDF links; PNG images are posted on the “Charts and Graphics” page).
Soon to follow are charts on Mauritanian political parties and a few North African Ba’th parties.
There is an error in the “Algerian political parties” map.
The berber cultural movement is the MCB and not MCA. I know two MCA: In Morrocco Amazigh Cultural movement, and I mean there is Aures cultural Movement ….
The MAK, is splited from the RCD and not from the MCB …
In fact in this MAP, we don’t see “la superposition” of the different faction inside the MCB with the FFS wings and The RCD wings …
In my opinion, in this map, another idea is missing : The regionalism/tribal key. Sometime somme ideologic split are in fact tribal/regionalist clash …
Thanks for the corrections on the acronyms and lineages, they will be corrected. The tribal and regional element is more difficult to include uniformly across the parties in this format. Will be attempting this in the next iteration with a slightly different format to give more space for narrative. This is just mea t as a general orientation. Please offer any other critiques to improve the product!
Yes For including regionalisme paradigm you need 3D map
But it’s impossible to understand algerian politic without tribal perspective … The revanch of the western of the country, the new center is now somewhere between Tlemcen and Nedroma, the majority of minister of the governement are from this area … It’s not just coincidence … Why the majority of gendarmerie’s captain where now from westerne ? Why Oran have a big economical boom, since the other have economical crash ? …. It’s the more influent key to have a political view of algerian politics …
I made a post on this last year (or the year before) re: regionalism. It is very difficult to illustrate without confusing the people who’ll have to look at the diagram!
I wish you didn’t say product.
Do you prefer “outcome”?
spelling/grammar: petit bourgeois, not petite bourgeois. (bourgeois is male, bourgeiosie is feminine. French. go figure!)
Fixed!
