While surfing the web I cam across an excellent article from Al-Ahram in 2002 entitled Neo-Pan-Arabism. The article, mostly an interview with the Arab League Secretary General, Amr Muossa, focuses on the impact of the July Revolution (the revolution that brought Nasser to power in Egypt and Egypt to the forefront of Arab politics) on the League. It also talks about how Pan-Arabism is still relevant in Arab League discoarse, though “not in the same sense as before or after 1952″. Moussa talks about the importance of creating common interests as a means to reach unity. This means creating joint railways, and roads and forging closer economic ties so there isn’t a serious conflict of interests. This is the correct direction to be headed in.

Amr Moussa and the other Arab leaders seem to be part of the problem. “All Arab states agree on the Palestinian issue” he says. Well, they seem to have agreed on a negative manner of achiving a Palestinian home. It has not worked, they need to change. Judge Mr. Moussa’s approach for yourself.
